Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is found naturally in our bodies, it is the compound that gives the plumpness to our skin. As we get older we begin to lose HA gradually every year, this is why  Hyaluronic Acid fillers have become so popular to restore loose skin and volume loss. Adding HA to microneedling treatments can improve skin at a cellular level, in a less invasion treatment, and the results will continue to improve over time.

What is Micro-Needling?

Microneedling is an increasingly popular, non-surgical aesthetic treatment for skin rejuvenation, with little to no downtime. Treatments  involve a “pen” device with several small needles in the tip. This pen is glided over the skin creating micro-channels, this activates the skin’s natural healing response, by increasing collagen to those channels to heal these “micro-wounds”. Collagen provides strength and structure to the skin, which helps with visible signs of aging (ex. fine lines, wrinkles and reduced elasticity). Most clinics see great results with microneedling alone, however when HA is added to the treatment, results can be phenomenal.

How Does Hyaluronic Acid Work with Micro-Needling?

In the prior paragraph we discussed “micro-channels”, because of these channels the skin can better absorb serums and products to achieve optimal results. The skin is very accepting of HA since it is already naturally produced. Microneedling already aids in the production of collagen, adding HA now gives MORE plumpness and volume to the skin than collagen alone, which leads to quicker desired results for your patients. PepFactor Skin’s HA Serum is also a great glide for the microneedling device, creating a more comfortable treatment to the patient.

Are There Any Side Effects?

There is typically only slight discomfort with micro needling, but topical anesthetics make the treatment very tolerable. Some redness and inflammation can occur, with deeper treatments, a minimal amount of bruising can happen near boney areas of the face. Microneedling with HA is not a treatment just limited to the face, it can be used just about everywhere on the body. Like discussed prior HA is naturally produced in the body, it is rare any sign effect occur due to it.
